This is not a tech tip but please read it anyway.
A friend of mine rushed to the ER to be with her mother. The doctor asked the older woman if she was taking blood thinners. Her response was slurred and she was confused. The doctor looked at my friend and asked her. She had no idea what medications her mother took. The hospital was able to contact the woman’s doctor who faxed over the med list. But that took at least 45 minutes.
When you are with your family this holiday season, take the time to record your parents’ medications and the dosage of each. Date it and update it as often as possible. Put a copy of it in their wallets. You and your siblings can keep it in your phones (with a photo of their insurance/Medicare card). I hope you never have to use it, but if you do, you’ll be glad that you have it.
